i recently learned that the eiffel tower can be 15cm taller in the summer! and this is because of thermal expansion, which is what happens when metal expands due to the heat. 
it’s just so interesting to think about how it probably expands, but never visibly!😀 you could quite literally be next to it when the expansion is happening & you’d never know. Astonishing, right?
