starting to find a lot of joy making recipes from cookbooks over searching on google

it’s a lot easier when i know the chef/author has a similar palette/cooking style that i like vs seo optimized recipes 

i also really appreciate the chefs notes about the dish and some of the cultural significance of it

omg his restaurant Star Noodle on maui is soooo good. i haven't actually checked to see if it burned down in the fires. have you been to any of his spots? anything with mayo is a hard pass from me, but i would mop some beef stew.

currently looking through sheldon simeons cookbook. made his beef stew last week. 

gonna make some charred cabbage with shrimp paste compound butter, lime/basil chinese eggplant, and maybe some kewpie mayo/sriracha brussel sprouts.
