11/ Insta360: I used to be a GoPro maxi, but now Iā€™m all in on the insta360. It takes a little getting used to, but thereā€™s honestly no comparison once you get the hang of it. Check out this POV from a little suspension bridge walk we did on a recent trip to New Zealand.

14/ How to Money: Last tip is that in 2024, you really donā€™t need to use cash that much anymore in a lot of places. In my two most recent trips to Japan and New Zealand, I didnā€™t even take cash out once. You can pretty much get away with Apple Pay & credit cards. If - BIG IF - you can pay off your credit card on a regular basis and not carry a balance, you should absolutely be using ccā€™s 99% of the time over cash or debit. Itā€™s the only reason Iā€™ve been able to travel so much for free. More Points = More Adventures!

13/ Omiyage: Omiyage is a Japanese tradition of giving gifts after youā€™ve returned from a trip, but Hawaii ppl have expanded it to mean giving gifts for a variety of reasons. I bring omiyage - typically just some good snacks - to flight attendants, hotel front desk staff, and honestly anyone I encounter in my travels who brought a smile to my day or helped me in any way.

6/ Anker: I leave the bulky computer chargers at home and opt for a streamlined high capacity Anker outlet. Also carry a portable version for my phone since Iā€™m often out on the road for long periods of time.

3/ One Pair to Rule Them All: If Iā€™m doing a mix of hiking / city travels, Iā€™ll pack my Merrell Bravadas to save space.They effortlessly go from the streets to the trails, and are actually very badass hiking shoes with tons of grip. Spring for the waterproof ones.

2/ Native Power: I donā€™t use converters or adapters, I buy plugs on Amazon that are native to the country or region Iā€™m visiting. And always with USB-C built-in.

1/ Compression Sacks: These sacks compress your gear to about 1/4 - 1/3 their original size and can be used at the start of the trip to save room, or to free up space on your way home after your bags have ballooned from stuff you picked up along the way. Also great for separating dirty laundry. Iā€™ve tried them all, REI sacks are the best.

12/ AC Bags: Aloha Collection makes lightweight, packable, splash-proof bags to shash all your stuff. I mainly use them to store wet bikinis, but theyā€™re pretty damn versatile and super super cute.

10/ Bose Micro: I canā€™t go anywhere without music and the Bose micro is the perfect lilā€™ travel speaker. Waterproof, rugged, great sound, and a sturdy built-in strap to latch to your bike, shower, or tree branch.

9/ 8-hr Cream: This is one thing youā€™ll never find me without. Elizabethā€™s 8-hr cream is more of a thick gel than a cream, and you can use it on your lips, dry hands, pretty much anywhere. Iā€™ve even used it to seal up some wounds before. Pro Tip: A dab of this before a long flight keeps your lips so happy and moisturized.

8/ Woolite: I tend to pack really light on adventure trips, and in more rugged terrain, it can be a while before you find a washer. Woolite travel packs are great for hand washing or spot cleaning to tide you over - and they smell great.

7/ Shampoo Bar: This is the female version of the good ā€˜ole 3-in-1. Shampoo bars are compact, dry quickly, smell good, and can be used as soap in a pinch. I love me some LUSH Montalbano, made with lemon oil, lemon juice, and fresh olives.

5/ Kalanchoe: I carry a small vial of this around in case I pick up a bug. Not sure if it works, but my sister has kids and swears by it, which is enough for me.

4/ International Data: Pre-purchase an eSim before your trip and instantly unlock data as soon as you land. Dropping my Airalo referral below, but thereā€™s a few other companies to choose from. Plans outside of the US are *significantly* cheaper. Note: Does not work with locked iPhones, and youā€™ve gotta fuss with your settings so you donā€™t accrue roaming charges from your local carrier.
