potentially dumb question but can someone explain the logic of “subletting” your apartment out for 2 weeks while you’re on vacation? 

like is rent really that high or are people really that cash strapped or what?

2 weeks is arguably not worthwhile for the overhead of logistics on all of it but more generally I am a huge proponent of using sublets to solve the double rent problem to allow people to live in multiple places they can call home throughout the year, something more like 9 months Miami 3 months nyc for example

I stayed in an an apartment sublet tome for 4 months in L.A.  less than a few months does seem rather silly.
