I've long struggled with prioritizing and staying on task, but it's gotten worse as of late. So here's a convoluted metaphor as a note to myself to not check socials first thing in the morning: the Attention Bus https://hackmd.io/@sdv-eth/BJQNzWv5A

I’d been feeling this too lately, but more of priority 4/5 vying for more time than they should compared to 1 or 2 What prompted this piece for you?

Every morning I wake up and tell myself “Don’t check the phone until noon” *checks phone as I start work* *barely get anything done* *repeat*

Ah I know the feeling. I started tracking in analog my intended schedule vs what happened “Shit, did I really food coma for an hour there? Did I really scroll the feed like a brainless ape for the last 30 minutes??”

Interesting! How detailed is the analog schedule?

15 min interval. I include the basic meetings and occasional intended work blocks on half the page Then use the other half for the actuals. Trial ran it with just pen markings and it’s been pretty good so far Primarily calling out my mindless scrolling time and other mindless activities https://warpcast.com/jachian/0x0ccf70f9

This is great!! I used RescueTime for over a decade, before Screen Time was even a thing, and it captured insights like this automatically in the background. It's (unsurprisingly) incompatible with iOS so I stopped using it altogether. I might have to try this more analog, intentional approach!
