Simply wanting kids of your own is great, but…If you worry about falling birth rates and preach at those who don’t, it’s meme anxiety. You think your genes can compete in gene pool but fear your memes aren’t strong enough to infect your own kids and that the memes of evil childless people will pwn your spawn

Its an unpopular opinion, but I think the societal default expectation/assumption of couples is that they DONT have kids rather than that they DO. A symptom of a "4th world country" is that people still have the societal expectations of a "3rd world country" which don't apply well anymore.

pure economics... social expectations follow economic incentives. Having a kid is just far more expensive today. We're moving from K-selection to r-selection (look up K/r theory). Pendulum will swing back when it gets cheaper again.
