it's a little naive to think this is a choice

ie standing up for yourself or otherwise doing the right thing often makes 'enemies', the alternative is not a good move

They can bury me deep, but I always grow back.

some situations can't be disarmed

ie women more often than not do not talk about being sexually harassed or sexually assaulted because of what they'll endure because of speaking up

what usually happens ie those specific women tell their friends who to avoid at parties is far from a fine balance

There is an art in disarming the situation from the beginning.
