right now, the largest accounts—those with 300k+ followers—receive roughly the same amount of likes as accounts with 50k followers; this is a problem if we continue to add bots at current pace, there will be accounts here with 1M+ followers receiving <50 likes per cast if this happens, it will most certainly be the death of the network as a “ghost town” narrative will form & ultimately takeover too many games & protocols have succumbed to the same future not to make this the #1 priority right now so, fuck the dau figures; fuck the vanity following figures; we must kill the bots & cleanse the network imo, this becomes an existential risk if it’s not already

This is facts and already so true Expand the auto follow list dramatically (and programmatically update it) and make more than ~7 basic categories would go along way to at very least distributing the numbers so it's a little less uncanny valley Excited to see @unofficial roll out, the way @christopher broke down their clustering system could be super interesting I also think staggering the auto follow amount in stages based on activity could be interesting Start with X based on categories Recommend buckets of Y based on revealed interests Getting people into their pocket in a multi step process would be a lot more effective - right now its firing blanks

agree. starts will auto follow rework. i think i somehow got put on that during peak signups. there was that one or two week period where a lot of us went from <5k to 20k+. don’t thing a single one of those accounts that followed me during that time are still active

i generally have no issue with the autofollow list. it's just one signer key's version of reality. clients can filter the follows if they don't want to show them coming from external sources. and consumer perspective: content is generally consumed regardless of who is following the content creator, like reddit.
