I may be the person who’s most excited for Channel Memberships Here’s why👇 I’ve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and it’s: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks you’ll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens — which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

Most channels will not be using fts as a gateway unless it is forced. And it's not going to be forced, unless you're saying you know something else

Not at all. The issue is, Automod is going to sunset when channel changes go live. The only other moderation tool is Airstack’s NotaBot which uses FanTokens. If channel owners only invite their friends, no spam. If they invite everyone, the spammers will come. So then your only choice is to gate by FanTokens, until someone builds another moderation tool.

thank you the timing of everything does sound odd but im too much of a conspiracy guy.. i trust soon enough someone will build invite based on other nft undefined and deployer will save us from this forced use of fts

the thing is, other devs are indie devs and for now it seems they are being pushed out with new unexpected rules (see automod sunset) no hate fr, just free choice

For clarification, Automod isn’t being pushed out. Developer wants to work on other things and open sourced it.

I agree, and open sourcing it will bring good to this place if any other dev picks it up. the trigger thu is the changes in channels which is forcing him without notice to do heavy adjustments in the tool. However he did give blessing to the changes. its just a very tight turn of events.. there's still use of automod for channel curation (who can cast etc)

Th official stance is you won’t need moderation anymore since channels are invite only. If only invite quality casters, there is zero spam. If you invite everyone, spammer included, you made that choice as a channel host. I feel like a lot of these changes are to reduce spam.
