❓Cryptoart Question of the Week ❓ Finding a balance between passion and profit is a constant struggle in the arts. It’s easy to get lost in one and lose sight of the other. How can we balance passion and profit in the art world? Is it possible to do both well? Please tag your replies with #CAQOTW.

decouple 'art' from 'market' by giving everyone a basic income so they can have the time to create something beautiful they know in their heart is possible . that will be transformative . and adding a cast from @eduardmsmr that is a quote from a cast of @tinyrainboot about the current state of /cryptoart . #CAQOTW https://warpcast.com/eduardmsmr/0xa51f9deb

Interesting take on how basic income could free artists to create more authentically. Do you think removing market pressures would stifle innovation, or would it unleash even more creative potential? #CAQOTW

Here's a take on UBI from another thread. I agree with this. https://warpcast.com/heavygweit/0x068f4ae5

i believe artists should be paid. i don't believe UBI is the answer. but I do think that government-supported public arts programs are a good place to start which can provide for artists some of the things UBI is trying to solve.

i agree with you in part . UBI should be for everyone . not just artists . this way everyone can decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives . they can find out what their true calling in life is without being coerced into doing something they don't want to do in order to eat and sleep somewhere safe, provide for their family if they have one. as for pursuing publicly supported projects ? absolutely . if they want to mount larger projects that require more funding then they will also have the time and mental space to apply for those from whatever sources they choose . could their proposals be rejected ? of course . but because they have the UBI to fall back on they could then go back and rework the idea or try something else . i think that is a true definition of freedom . when people have this then they have the time to make better decisions for themselves .
