Absolutely, as far as the textbook definition goes (β€œA meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme”).

As in, can a meme survive forever if it’s not rooted in some kind of truth or evidence? IMHO the enduring faith-based beliefs (e.g., religions) are still based on some universal truths They just built an entire narrative (& often verbose) scaffolding around those truths in the form of fables, legends, parables, etc
