Absolutely, as far as the textbook definition goes (“A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme”).

yes, very strong one indeed. have to think also about certain religion instating aniconism, banning images countering idolatry and periods of iconoclasm - taking control of the meme but in essence man is not homo sapiens, but homo spiritualis - we do not actually know anything, but we tell stories to shape our world

I consider people who can not respect religion, even if they're not religious themselves, to be disgraceful. If religion is a meme, a reality where child molesters with alzheimer can become presidents is a mememememe. 🥲

Yes. I consider religion an anti-rational meme, to use David Deutsch’s terminology. It is an idea that relies on disabling people’s critical faculties to get itself to be replicated. Example: common tactics like inducing shame or guilt if one does something “wrong”.

In the sense that human behavior is itself a meme coming from the word memetic. Humans do what they see other humans doing. The baby watches and mimics the mother’s behavior.
