Canada will have 3 Prime Ministers this year. I'm putting my money on #2 being Chrystia Freeland, though she will likely only serve for a few weeks until the election happens in May and Pierre Poilivievre and the Conservative Party win. For you Americans, Poilivievre (or as some of us call him, PP) might look familiar cause it's almost as if he was separated at birth from Speaker of the House MAGA Mike Johnson.

I honestly believe most of Poilievreโs popularity is merely anti-Trudeau energy redirected the other big party. The reality is, Trudeauโs policies were broadly popular and relatively mainstream. Itโs likely that Poilievre wins because 10 years of one party is a lot and thereโs a pendulum swing that often happens. Realistically Justin was himself a swing back from the nearly 10 years of Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party. Point is, with a thoughtful enough pick, it could be anyoneโs game. And much as I hate to say it, because I like Singh, with a different leader, the NDP could also pick up a lot of seats since their policies are quite popular as well. Iโll be interested to see what happens. But if it were up to me, Trudeau would have teamed up with the NDP, Greens, and Bloc to implement proportional representation before stepping down.
