You only have 1 real asset in your life: The trust people put in you. This is the one asset you need to cherish and cultivate all your life. The pillars to gain people's trust over time are very simple: 1. Transparency. "Say what you do". 2. Reliability. "Do what you say". 3. Skills. "Do things well". The most difficult part: You need to do that all the time, throughout your entire life! Gaining trust is hard and takes a lot of time. Losing it is extremely easy and fast: it just takes one screw-up! Honor the trust people put in you, in any situation, no matter how hard it is and I promise you that you will be rewarded. Trust compounds!

What do you think of empathy? To me, another pillar of trust. People feel really comfortable and ready to go beyond themselves when they feel covered and understood.

I agree but you can be antipathic and trustworthy. Jerks can be trustworthy too :)

Ah I see what you mean. Is that durable then? Antipathy is tiring, received, loved and given. Founding is a marathon, and there is so much body and mind can take.
