One thing I notice in the West especially is this tendency to severely underestimate how much change China has gone through in the past 30ish years. It’s unprecedented at a scale that I don’t portend to even attempt to understand as well, but I think it’s severely overlooked as many in the West

Apache NuttX RTOS this week reported 51% of the commits done by Xiaomi. And many presenters from there at the annual event. Literally everywhere, doing great work. And that’s just one company.

A company that many see as an Apple wannabe. Which is likely one on many aspects, but not on OSS, and many of their devices look pretty nice (never had one, but attractive UIs).
