Web3 Product Strategy 101: This pretty much sums it up. Web3 is marked by over promise/under deliver - wasting time and money. I asked was when we’d see some developments. The answer was essentially “you’ll get it when you get it so shut up and like it” https://warpcast.com/jayce/0xb307de22

Isn’t this non-commitment explicitly not over-promising?

The promise is in the product description. We can ask when we might to use the product we invested in right? I’d have been satisfied with even a response that a functioning mvp will be launched in a year. Expecting people to pay demand no accountability sounds like a scam.

Product description is a what, not a when.

If one gives you money for a what, to what degree are they entitled to a when?

If they commit to it. I feel your pain, i work with devs and know the difficulties here but this is the baseline. If paying for a project, i prefer to pay portion on completion. All about expectations and incentives.

I know I know. Unfortunately this philosophy is what is holding this space back and undermining trust in potential users. And like in this case, one can be a potentially talented dev but not be cut out for running a business at the end of the day.

This is software, not just web3. If you want faster delivery, limit scope.

People deliver quickly when they are getting a pay check, no problem right? The people that buy their token are their employer. Those people deserve accountability.

You come in early, you take on more risk. Things often don’t work, but can’t expect this highly complex space with thousands of unknowns to operate like amazon, particularly pre PMF. Plenty of safer, more predictable opportunities.

To be fair… we are currently typing on a product that we all appreciate and enjoy… that works well, was early. And effectively is the opposite of what I’m critiquing. Dan and Varun did this, seemingly because both have complimentary skill sets that allow each other to be optimally productive. I’m just saying there is no shame in admitting a single person shouldn’t think they can do it all alone. We all have aptitudes and weaknesses.
