Social media and the whole mind control thing is a tough not to crack. 

Definitely a concern for them and the country.

 Awareness of it is all I can really offer.

I think about great-grandparents who lived through WWI, Roaring 20s, then Depression and WWII, raising kids along the way. Brutal, many battle fought, lost and won to bring up standard of living. 

Ultimately things did get better for their kids and grandkids and so on, but it's always a slog against powers that be.
