Iain McGilChrist talks a lot about what goes wrong in Schizophrenia in The Master and his Emissary. Has to do with internal world model, which obviously would be very different in non-visual.

A large study where blind people were a very small, nearly insignificant part of the sample size when compared to the frequency of schizophrenia.
