Still on a road trip… another thought: what if we paused upfront funding for a year and only did retro with proof of work? There would still be enough teams with plenty of runway and true fans & creators would still be sticking around, arguably grinding harder to make it work. And collaborating. Thought it could be an interesting season.

Tickets couldn’t have been free and it wouldn’t have happened on this short notice. Prob tighter programming too.

Asking because I think like you, there are many other builders who honestly wish to create value and make an impact to the Nouns community and need upfront funding to do so. As you said, you probably would not have been able to make the event free and extend the programming like you have, which would have likely lowered the reach and impact significantly of the event. Personally, I think the current format works, we just need to be more mindful of what we fund, how much we spend, and the impact we seek to make. Furthermore, retroactive rewards could work best using Rounds, where builders share their updates on /nouns or a nounsbuilders channel to get new or continued support for their contributions to the ecosystem. would be happy to chat further about this on my space on /tavern friday.
