Before I got into tech, I didn’t know there were so many people whose only concern is money and status. I knew that was important to people and rightly so, I just didn’t know it could be the only thing

lol. There’s also a related unhealthy obsession with measurements imo. Productivity and health optimization is a good example. Putting data over feelings

i was once asked by someone i respect deeply in tech what motivates me

i said service, helping people

the reply was “oh come on, what is it really?”

lol disillusioned me

it's especially insidious because many people don't even realize this is what they are after

 (i'm not completely innocent of this, btw...i have had to grow a lot)
