i was once asked by someone i respect deeply in tech what motivates me

i said service, helping people

the reply was “oh come on, what is it really?”

lol disillusioned me

Before I got into tech, I didn’t know there were so many people whose only concern is money and status. I knew that was important to people and rightly so, I just didn’t know it could be the only thing

objectively the majority of exited tech founders are men, so i read her comment as a generalization of that fact

Finding meaning is more a state than an outcome

Tech is by nature focused on changing state and getting to an outcome 

Maybe the source of the problem?

I think the issue comes more from trying to find meaning in tech instead of using tech to build useful things that improves our lives. Hopefully this changes 🤞
