Even if it’s too soon to step in, it’s worth considering the diplomatic / political origins of protocols. They’re one of the original sociotechnical tools. I think it’s underappreciated how Lindy they are. That protocols are having a renaissance (rebirth) is a signal of some shifting undercurrent
