For your research speaking for my husband, primary purchase is for consumption. But since he is a curator I will warn you that he refers to all of his music related belongings as his “archive” 🤣

Consume - look for those special albums that sound better played front to back than part of a playlist on Spotify, etc.

Mostly collect - records I like every track of / big sentimental value / local artist Consume records that are hard to find digital copies of (without using p2p sources) Lots of nice record stores w bars here in melb, so lots of spur of the moment buys

I just recently started to buy vinyls of my favorite albums. For now, I'm only collecting, because I have no vinyl player. The plan is to buy a vinyl player soon.
