"I logged in to Farcaster last week for the first time in months to do the bare minimum I think will make my account seem active. My engagement was bad and the feed was boring." This is why good defaults are important. We have to make the experience good even for this kind of user. But also...what did you expect?!

Some ppl simply don't want to live, eat, and breathe a social media network. I have friends IRL that I only see every few months or more and when we hang out it's like we didn't miss beat. Online if you don't take your phone to the bathroom with you it's like emerging from Jumanji after decades.

I expect to login multiple times a day and not see posts from 1-2 days ago clogging up the main feed. I think it's one of the reasons interactions are down overall. It's not exactly on topic with your cast, just an observation. Also, I misread your cast and had already typed my response lol

I'd be curious to see defaulting to Trending tab would make a difference for when someone hasn't logged in a while. Ultimately algorithmic feed drives more engagement and if someone is coming back they might be down to explore/discover more.

There's such a lack of curiosity. When I onboarded, I immediately started by finding channels in my interest topics. Found a whole host of them in no time. Then just started browsing those to find interesting users to follow. And them, bam, by being proactive about my feed, it's great to scroll through. And I take that approach on every social platform. It's delightful.

Wait. What’s your expectation? More usage frequency should imply higher quality content? Do you believe content needs to be “more tailored to the user” to be more interesting? Or could a good algo actually figure interesting content from weeks of general content production and engagement? 🤭
