That is not what this bill says. It just mandates you provide sufficient documentation of proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. If you have an ID compliant with REAL ID, you're fine.

For sure, but it does require more documentation effort - which is suppression imo.

It frustrates me that the rumors are exaggerated. Because I do believe this is 100% intentional voter suppression. And the rumors distract from the facts that do (imo) show it’s suppression: Up to 34% of voting aged women don’t have a passport or REAL ID Obtaining such ID is significantly harder for women of lower socioeconomic status Obtaining REAL ID after a name change can present similar obstacles as the SAVE Act (requires a combination of citizenship and name change documentation) Other legal forms and processes documenting citizenship don’t have such strict requirements. For example, an employer’s I-9 form accepts a standard drivers license and birth certificate, regardless of last name. If that’s good enough for employment and taxes, why is it not good enough for voting? 🤔 There’s some good info about it on Snopes: https://www.snopes.com/news/2025/02/13/save-act-women-voting/
