What are some of your hacks to retain more information from a book you're reading? I've started underlining important sentences and plan on skimming the book after I finish it to reread those.

write stuff down in your own words, ideally on physical material. helps retention a ton. Also spaced repetition

I usually read on an airplane or when travelling, or on vacation. It's nice to leave your phone and just read a good, dense book, and scribble down notes on actual paper. Lazy means only reading, but it's doing yourself a disfavor - transpiling and paraphrasing and summarizing the thoughts in the book into your 1/

2/2 words is actually how your brain learns! That's how you absorb and retain the knowledge, and yes, its not lazy, its more work, but its what you should do if youre not reading just for pure pleasure!

I have made a habit out of reading in distraction-free environments, but I somehow haven't found the motivation to start writing notes. Maybe that's why I was bad at school - wasn't using the right system to learn. Thanks for the input!
