Elon Musk, JD Vance, and a host of other prominent people have apparently spent the last 24 hours promoting a fake story that Haitian immigrant killed and ate a cat in Ohio. This story is false — there is a non-Haitian woman with mental illness who was arrested for animal abuse, but it went viral as an anti-immigrant story promoted by prominent individuals such as these.

What really bugs me is Elon should know this stuff is false. But he spreads it anyway. It’s not ignorance, it’s pure bad faith. He’s truly a horrible person.

Maybe he does have a blind spot or two as does everyone (i know thats being a bit trite). I always like to frame these things as 'either person X (no pun intended) is a bad faith actor or is very stupid, take your pick' either way they lose.

In general I agree with you. In this case, while I know Musk is not nearly as intelligent as his fans think he is, I don’t honestly believe you can become the richest man on Earth without having at least average intelligence + common sense. That leaves bad faith IMHO.
