Here is something that’s not talked about enough: more than 19.5k children have been abducted by russians from occupied cities, moved to russia, and placed for adoption (while their parents are still alive and searching for them).
There are many task forces and nonprofits both in Ukraine and foreign countries working to find and return these children (using open-source information, including satellite imagery, social media posts, russian publications, and adoption ads). So far, only 1240 children have been returned to their parents ❤️🩹
This shows why surrendering to occupation never equals peace; the war crimes continue under occupation, and the kidnapping of children is one of them. I’ve seen some cruel takes on this, with people saying, ‘Well, at least those children are alive and not bombed to pieces.’ All I can say is, try saying that to their parents.

Yep, you’d think this would be the biggest international news, with the whole world screaming about children being stolen and held hostage, while their parents are going crazy. But instead, people say, “hey, it’s great, they’ll be adopted by russians or live in their foster care, so it’s all okay”.
Oh, and they send older teenagers to military training, so they can ship them off to fight for russia later.
