If the goal is to stay a niche community, it's not a problem. I'll still be here happy and contributing. If the goal is to grow big, I'm sorry.. I just fail to see how privacy doesn't become an issue at scale as mainstream people adopt the network and become exposed maybe my hope for the scale of FC is misaligned

My mental model for this is that you can build private apps on open rails, but not the other way around

That's a good framework. I was wondering, though.. if there was a way to do it. Basically data grants happen at the client level, e.g. Warpcast, put the data stays encrypted at rest at the hub level Just something that's been on my mind for a while https://warpcast.com/baz.eth/0x79f0a41f

there are also ways to obfuscate what data is sent - if cast content is first encrypted at the client level before it hits the hubs, then another client wouldn’t be able to read it you’d still get engagement metrics but you wouldn’t know the content very interesting and open space to explore within tho!

yeah, it would require the client to encrypt/decrypt on behalf of the user. there are some e2e encryption strategies that allow multiple devices/clients to decrypt the same data, for example, but it’s not my area of expertise
