There's a lot of surprising events going on: - 1/3 of our legislature is there by default because literally nobody ran against the candidate, and it's making people angry at the decisions they're making (they just instituted one of those "show id to see porn" laws that are getting copy pasted and hilariously it's backfiring) - that same political group tried to push abortion bans to a vote and women showed the fuck up to vote against, reversing the expected political standard of the state - that same voter bloc expects a Trump win will override their state vote, so they will show up again in force - combined with otherwise conservative types who suddenly found out they don't agree with all of their laws thanks to the porn ban you'll end up with the weirdest voting dynamic this state has seen in decades
