Farcaster Devs

On farcaster, we will have:

- Custody Address
- Auth Address
- Verified Address
- Warpcast Wallet Address

I really hope we can consolidate these into a single address.

why? what's the benefit of having a single address for everything? and do they out weight the cons?

it will be easy for new people to onboard, no need to know all different addresses 



Ideally people don't need to know about any of these addresses. Just an implementation detail.

Developers might have to deal with them.

if people want to switch between different clients, they have to know this. 

After the Auth Address is introduced, other clients will prompt users to verify it. 

Also, Warpcast Wallet Addresses are not portable to other clients, requiring users to create new ones.

I just copy-paste my recovery phrase just like I copy-paste passwords from 1Password.

At least in my use case there is no difference from any other service that relies on me using a password.

Building @warpcast and @farcaster / dad / like to read, cook, ski, code

similar to ethereum, swithing between different wallets with recover phrase, you can access all fund.

I know copying phrase is not a good idea, but i hope we can have a solution in which phrase is only stored on local device, but can easily authorize to different clients. （access funds and create signer）

not sure if smart wallet can archive that in the future. 



why?

they go through an OAuth like connect flow and then are using another client

it'd be weird if signing up for a different client meant they had root access to your Farcaster account and all your funds
