linux is barely usable, there's always some incompatibility or something breaking that takes an entire evening away from you.

The trifecta problem of OS pick two out of three: 
- trustable
- usable
- cheap

i'll take barely usable over completely untrustable

not really. I have been steadily using Archlinix as both user and dev environment and am pretty satisfied!

don't run it on a laptop - keep macos on the laptop and ssh to a workstation - linux thrives in that environment
