how important is prestige to you as a software engineer?

e.g. working at a highly respected company (status/prestige) vs less respected company but higher pay (money)

Really no companies you think are high prestige and have maintained that for a long time? Doesn't need to be crypto

maybe not public prestige, but rather prestige amongst other devs

think "XYZ must be cracked he works at ABC"

Not really. Especially since company culture changes so quickly by the time it has public prestige the internal culture is dead
