im surprised how much ppl stan vscode when jetbrains seems far better to me

WebStorm (their JS-focused offering) has much deeper code understanding. i know exactly where every function is called, can refactor with minimal effort, jump from definition to uses and back

worth paying for imho

I used to love JetBrains for Python but I've never tried it for the web. Thanks for the suggestion
