There is a lost art of staying put in one place

Most people nowadays (especially the higher classes) are traveling frequently - for vacations, conferences, toggling between summer/winter homes, etc.

There are certain things you only perceive when you stay in one place. Particularly things related to nature’s rhythms

A major reason I have opted out of going to conferences in far places as much as possible this year: to meet my friends, benefit from my one-year museum ticket, and recognize people on the street. And, ofc, be sad when they cut down the grass that has grown super high, giving rise to pretty flowers. 

Also civic engagement is another reason to stay put

great choice. i pick and choose my conferences carefully. mostly im focused on my work, my fam, and my neighborhood (and merging all three into one project 😀)
