How do you foster a culture of high standards on your team? Esp curious about small remote teams of equals (eg cofounder-like relationship, not employee/manager)

Tbh, I’d lean nature over nurture here whenever possible — ie, on a small team, only hire people where high signal that they already are internally motivated That’s not bc I don’t wish there were solid cultural answers, but more that they seem really hard Bookmarking to learn more

I agree internal motivation is key. That said, our env has a big effect on us. It can amplify or dampen whatever innate strengths we have. And it’s the part we have the most control over. So once you’ve hired only the best ppl, what’s next?

Our team’s trick is to have frequent shipping deadlines that are outside of our control (in this case, big sports events) This just always keeps us focused and moving, bc we have to make smart prioritizations or we won’t deliver

1. Define what “excellence” looks like together as a team, and individually. 2. Share with each other 3 things you want to be held accountable to/for (emphasize approach > output). 3. Some variation of what @tldr said
