Real q: when has turning social interactions into financial interactions ever made the social part better?

A shared investment, a poker game, a weekend bender in Vegas.

good answers. poker or fantasy football (gambling in general) was my best idea too but is it the money that makes it better, or is it only better if you win? do you have a better relationship with your dad if he puts money into your startup and it fails? is poker better than hearts if you lose $1000 in a dozen hands?

Fantasy football a great example. If you take money out of any of those events you lose the camaraderie in my opinion. A poker game for points is just not that fun and a fantasy football league without stakes is just work lol. In your question, I don’t think you have a better relationship with your dad but you may have a new lifelong friend who you realize will believe you and stick with you through ups and downs. More so then some guy you went to a baseball game with once.
