Fear of Trump's Tariffs Driving Americans into Debt! One in three Americans is stockpiling daily necessities like toilet paper and non-perishable food out of fear that President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to raise tariffs on imported goods will drive up prices! According to a December report from CreditCards.com, which provides information on credit cards and financial literacy, about 34% of respondents said they were hoarding certain items because they were "afraid or uncertain about the future." The organization surveyed 2,000 U.S. residents in late November. Trump has repeatedly stated that he will impose tariffs on foreign goods, promising a 10% additional tax on Chinese products and a 25% tariff on all goods from Mexico and Canada. Economists have warned that these tariffs could likely drive up gas prices and contribute to domestic inflation.
