l2 roadmap is going bad not because chains cannot interop

but because chains don't want to interop

everyone is building walled gardens so they capture the most $$$

when each chain projects "TVL" as the north star metric, nobody wants to support multichain interop projects anymore

literally >1000 EVM chains on mainnet right now, most of them would kill for higher TVL - interop roadmap kills it

interop will happen regardless, but its not going to be easy

scale the l1

This is true but also why interop will happen

There are thousands of well-funded L2s that *must* find TVL to survive, so they'll start redirecting their focus to interop to steal liquidity from the biggest chains (look at Polygon)

Other side though is in the future thousands of general purpose 2s won’t exist 

Current status quo may change, but long term we will have a long tail of app specific chains (and they don’t care about stealing tvl) and 3-5 general purpose chains that are valuable 

All the VC funding can’t help with the fact that there will be winners and losers

There will be losers but in the process of finding out which is which we'll get progress
