Has anyone deployed a production Next app to AWS or another provider besides Vercel? What was the experience like?

I do know Next technically has a lot of stuff under the hood that depends on Vercel, although some providers like Railway have gotten better at supporting it. Its so hard to do with AWS that the guys running sst.dev have put a lot of work into Open Next instead

there's open next with or without sst but doesn't support lambda layers nicely (node canvas support for example) using next.js in a Docker container on aws ecs for tybb site and frames atm

Yes, via AWS Amplify... used to suck but the Amplify team recently made several QOL improvements for Next.js

It’s not bad via amplify v6 on AWS, there has been a big investment into making the amplify experience look and feel good with nextjs recently due to its position in the startup landscape. That being said, there are some gotchas like ensuring you are using us-east-1 since the lambdas are deployed there to support the SSR aspect. Probably work checking out SST also since their whole business is related to making nextjs easier on AWS.

Took some time to set up on my ec2. But the rest of the process is great. I choose the ubuntu machine though
