Why do testnet faucets exist? The owner company can just act as a paymaster and sponsor all transactions (see base smart wallet). What am I missing here?

This week we shipped update 6 of Gangs of Metacadia (GoM) - we have built out an items and inventory system to the game where we dynamically generate items (images/stats) with AI on the fly using Claude Sonnet 3.5. Uniswap needs to come up with some sort of verified token, I’ve monitored PairCreated events the last 3 days and they are 99.7% automated rugs that fund with a few dollars, hope someone buys in, then remove liquidity. Over and over again. Probably makes up for a lot of “fake” traffic on L2s.

The team has been going deeeeeep on the GitHub graphql api to really make GitPaid the best possible user experience it can be. We’re super excited to be able to start testing with smaller groups over the coming weeks to refine our approach where needed and gather feedback. Can’t wait to see the first issues solved!
