they were superior to everything else 1y ago. if they catch up with ai assistance (to cursor), they'll be superior again.

neovim is the new unserious answer, and i say that as a 20yr vim junkie - jetbrains and even vscode blow it out of the water in terms of IDE features, and their vim plug-ins are mostly good enough even for power users and yes jetbrains/intellij is hands down the best development environment across the board, vscode doesn't come close, but jetbrains AI support has been lagging and im sadly using cursor more and more
