i think its clearly single tribe. 

there is a good reason why CT, Fintwit, etc… are real things.

I don't know. I don't have a clear view.

"Single-tribe" feels too dangerously close to "echo chamber" but it's focused on knowledge sharing.

"Social network" assimilates to "waste of time" but allows for cross-pollination.

I don't know, perhaps the key is in the design of either solutions.
