Gelber Englischer Custard summer squash has been one of my fav squash varieties this summer. It has produced a good amount of fruit even through neglect on my part and nutrient deficiencies. Whatโs been one of your winners this season?

58 days for cocozelle? That's sooooo fast. Are you saving seeds?

I save some seeds, not usually squash because I have so many seeds laying around already. This year my focus has been collecting wildflower seeds for next year's desert project. Mainly poppy and lupine. I'll be taking a ton of cuttings with me of all my roses so I don't lose those in the move.

I want to hear more about the desert project! You're in Missoula, right? I actually have a lupine I could give you. A bunch of Egyptian walking onion bulbs as well. I'm in Bozeman.

I'm in Hyampom, CA up north on a mountain in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The desert project is one that combines affordable housing(10-30k), permaculture and solarpunk into a (hopefully) new and unseen model of living in community without it being a way too hippie(IMO) ecovillage model. 100+ homes or I won't feel accomplished. Right now research seems to suggest only 6 people live in the area full time at the moment even though it's only 30 minutes from a decent sized city.
