the payment use case is extremely overhyped in crypto most consumers prefer centralized payment options and the benefits of centralization (fraud protection, security, etc) will probably always outweigh anything decentralized options bring to the table we have to find use cases where decentralization is actually an advantage

P2P payments among literally anyone in LATAM, EMEA, MENA, SEA have been already capitalized on several working wallets such as Clave. People rather do not care about paying in crypto for coffee etc. they want to be able to pay one another in stables even though it means swimming in alegal waters—sometimes in some locations anything crypto is legal except peer payments for services for ex. North American and EU users are not aware but we are just not having access to things like Gnosis Pay, or any other CEX equivalent of such services. I'd love to be using a physical debit card with both custodial and noncustodial options—I'd trust CB if they were operating here.

aren't these use cases mainly working because people want US dollars, but there are legal restrictions to using US dollars? in which case it's just another use case caused by crappy regulations vs a use case that's legitimately better because of decentralization also worth noting none of these services are decentralized so they're "crypto" with a huge asterisk Circle or Tether could freeze their funds at any moment https://warpcast.com/kenny/0xb93efc69

what does the adoption of those decentralized stables look like vs the centralized options of USDT and USDC?

that is up to the teams. still very smol. people want to flip their usdt to gold bars in the grand bazaar and leave some disposable stables aside is all usually. managed float regimes have long way to go. we'll see never dimensions to this type of decentralization but the participants need some breath and observe how experimenta like maker's sky is gonna act other than that i agree.
