i really hate them but i think B2B deals among these and protocols cause this type of service to cement. mny protocol/ project people also dislike them. gamifying the already gamified markets w/ o any real play. yup, your sidenote rings and again those suck too. a rent loop on users.

re quest-type products, generally not a fan... when it's a generic campaign you might see growth, but it doesn't help you validate hypotheses or get sticky users... might work if a specific campaign focused on problem space/target audience tho

side note: building on top of a protocol is kinda "userbase-as-a-service"?

Quests are bringing cheap traffic to projects and then the activity usually dies down quickly. However they are still one of the main acquisition channels of web3 projects

personally believe that quests are more useful post acquisition as a way to periodically reward your best users
