I did swing for a bit and one of my teachers lamented about how all the styles converged and became less interesting post globalization era. It used to be eclectic and unique, they said.

This makes me think about convergence and divergence in styles of things that are made. There was a time when software was more client oriented I.e. more desktop apps and it led to diversity in styles I feel like. Eventually everything tended to go towards cloud and convergence happened. 

I do think things will swing back toward a being weird and local on the edges again. It’s just the natural flow of things. The progression of technology, what technology wants to be, what it wants to become. 

We have a lot less control over our hive technology mind (not in an AGI/ASI way) that we like to give ourselves credit for

re: post-globalization: though it's true on the normie plane that things converged into bleak unity, it also helped many developing and underdeveloped parts of the world to meet with accountability in anything from basic consumer needs to public hygiene to health services—slightly hinging on the quoted cast.

technology is busy turning us into a cosmotechnique of its own, and it is honestly exciting. i'd not be able to taste it in a pre-globalization period. as eugene hütz used to sing: think locally fuck globally.
