I find this to be untrue. To paraphrase popular X poster Roon, most of what is thought of is alpha is levered beta. To pursue your true self, real alpha, takes a lot of courage — and is very lonely, too. Your world shrinks; you are often scorned

Have you read her diary? It's wonderful, and I think it might give you a different perspective on the quote. She talks a lot about overcoming fear, and how a life based on fear limits all manner of personal growth. it's not about external validation or acceptance but about self discovery and expanding possibilities.
