Do you have an opinion on genetically engineering a c3 plant into a c4 chassis?

So we can grow our normal crops with less water. Makes sense on paper, but I fear that it wont taste like a tomato.

Cool. At first I thought that they simply forced them to synthesize GFP. I would be happy to read some book or article about the biochemistry of mushrooms.  I think there is a lot of interesting stuff there. Any recommendations?
