Hi hi, I usually kill it quickly through the head and and removed top shell following that I will cut the body in half and remove the gills. I then like to steam the crab for 7 to 9 minutes if it was a 2 pound crab instantly I will ice it down for seven more minutes and then take it out of the shell.

Not sure exactly, usually when they are on season and if they are on a station you work. After a day or two  you get the hang of it. 
Even if you were to buy one from hmart and mangle it, I believe it still will be way better than buying already cooked meat.

How many crabs did it take for you to get comfortable preparing them from live?
